Angelfish, 一個陌生的名字   為什麼說它是the very beginning of Shirley Manson 呢?

事實上Angelfish 是垃圾合唱團的女主唱Shirley Manson 在加入垃圾之前所組的另類搖滾樂團
而Angelfish 的成員包括shirley在內共4位, 都是從前Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie 的團員

說到Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie, shirley 是在16歲時加入了這個團體
但當時她的歌唱能力尚未被發堀,她在團內僅負責一些簡單的工作像backup vocals 和
keyboards, 就像她在訪問裡自己提到的,當時大家只看見她的外表而非音樂的才能
她在裡面待了10年直到1992年該團解散,之後shirley 和先前的團員組成了Angelfish
不同的是shirley 變成了主唱,而先前在Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie 擔任主唱的Martin Metcalf
變成負責吉他,另外兩位團員Fin Wilson 負責bass, Derek Kelly 則是drummer



Angelfish 首先在93年發行了EP <<Suffocate Me>> 而就是同名單曲Suffocate Me的MV中
shirley 冷豔的外表以及低沉性感的嗓音著實吸引了GARBAGE 中的Steve Marker 的注意
之後Butch Vig 便向shirley 提出加入樂團的邀請, 而shirley 也答應了
在主唱Shirley 加入GARBAGE 後,理所當然的Angelfish 面臨破裂的命運

在這裡交代一下其他團員之後的動向,在shirley 跳槽GARBAGE 後, 3名團員也沒有閒著
他們另外組了一個樂團 Isa & the Filthy Tongues ,同樣也找了一個女主唱Stacey Chavis
他們的首張專輯才剛剛就在2006年的5月發行....他們的myspace

不過shirley 之前曾組過團的事我並不知道,會認識到Angelfish 還是因為在GARBAGE
巡迴時應觀眾要求唱了一小段Suffocate Me  之後我才認識到這個團體

1993發行的EP <<Suffocate Me>> 成績還不錯 之後又推出宣傳單曲Heartbreak To Hate
Heartbreak To Hate 特別的是MV 拍攝成黑白色系的    (這些影片都可以在youtube找到)
然而1994年Angelfish 推出solo 專輯,不過根據Wiki 上的資料這張只賣了1萬張
至於我為什麼說這是張solo album, 因為這張Angelfish 同名專輯是簽在shirley 的個人合約下
這就是所以有些人說其實shirley 現在正在籌備中的個人專輯於法應該算是第2張個人專輯

這張同名專輯儘管銷售量不盡理想, 但是這是shirley 在加入GARBAGE 之前的作品
shirley 的風格和現在有點差異, 所以專輯仍然有它的價值存在, 重點是專輯也不會難聽
聽聽同樣是shirley manson 的聲音, 但不是garbage 的音樂也滿有趣的

這張專輯裡面的歌幾乎都很琅琅上口,歌詞不會又臭又長,簡短,副歌的部分也都很容易記住
除了Suffocate Me 和 Heartbreak to Hate 之外,專輯裡其他的歌曲也相當不錯
我自己就非常的喜歡King of the World 這首歌,聽名子就知道很有霸氣 XD
開頭的Dogs In A Cage 雖然沒有像Suffocate Me 低音到那種地步,但和它同樣詭譎迷人
最後一首很有巧思的取名The End ,還真預言了Angelfish 的結局,出了1張EP和專輯後便破裂

EP 裡的Trash It 是我最喜歡的一首
最珍貴的是在youtube有人放了Angelfish 唱Trash It 的live影片, 早期的shirley 的Live 耶
不過EP中只有兩首是沒收錄在專輯的分別是Kimberly 和 Trash It
